Martin Earle makes animations and is currently studying at the Royal College of Art in London. His most recent video, West of Shannon, is a misty homage to Skellig Michael, an small island in the Atlantic once home to a community of hermits. While making it he drew much inspiration from a Russian thinker who has written that 'The spiritual world of the invisible surrounds us everywhere as an ocean and we are like creatures lost on its floor.' In this light every object - a radio, a spoon, a bowl of soup - becomes a unique communication of this ocean.
